Closing General Session:
Surveying Biden Administration Moves that Impact Oral Health and Dental Plans

In its first year, the Biden Administration and Congressional Democrats have moved aggressively on healthcare in several ways that impact oral health and dental plans. These include strengthening the ACA Exchanges, funding Medicaid expansion in states that have yet to expand the program and providing funding to states to establish All Payer Claims Databases that might require dental claims submission. And they’re just getting started. In the coming months, the industry could see significant healthcare legislation and regulations on a host of additional topics that could impact oral health and dental plans, including health equity, price transparency, provider networks and directories, patient/consumer protections, and dental coverage in Medicare. While dental plans will not be the primary focus of most of what’s coming, they will continue to be impacted by broader healthcare reforms. In this session, Mike Adelberg, a former US Department of Health and Human Services senior leader and close follower of federal policies that impact dental plans, will survey relevant Biden Administration moves to date and forecast moves that may be coming.
